Get Your Feet Wet With A Little Dowsing
July 2nd, 2007Dowsing is a very old form of divination. Once used strictly for finding water sources, dowsing can be used for numerous reasons. It is actually not difficult to learn, either. Anyone can grab a dowsing rod and get started today.
Dowsing is usually done with a stick or rod that is ‘y’ shaped. The person doing the dowsing holds the stick with the open end pointing out, usually down towards the ground. The person tries to feel for vibrations of energy that signal they have discovered something with their dowsing rod.
Dowsing is a form of divination that actually has been somewhat proven scientifically. There are many people who believe dowsing works. There is also evidence that may prove this as well.
The Munich Study in the 1980s is one of the greatest studies that offered proof on dowsing’s abilities. This study took place in Munich, Germany. Experiments were performed to test dowsing and the results were quite good.
Even though the overall interpretation of the study stated that dowsing and chance were equal and therefore dowsing could not be proven to be effective, there were several notes of individuals in the study who performed above average. The results of these individuals could not be explained except to say that they were dowsing and it was working.
Dowsing has been practiced for thousands of years in some form or another throughout the world. Original uses included looking for water sources and even determining the guilt or innocence of a person at trial. Other uses were to find lost items and to help with the discovery of coal underground.
Even though a ‘y’ shaped rod is typically used in dowsing, a person can also use a ‘l’ shaped rod or a pendulum. A pendulum is a crystal suspended from a chain. The pendulum swings about and can work much like a dowsing rod to point a person in the direction of what they are searching.
Dowsing is quite easy to learn. The hardest part is for a person to be open to feeling the pull of the rod. They have to be able to feel the energy and connect with it. However, they also have to be able to decipher their energy from the energy of the item they are searching for.
A little practice and a few experiences with dowsing is about all it takes for a person to start to be able to see good results. An experienced dowser, though, has probably spent many years perfecting their abilities, so a beginner may not see results the first time they try.
