Find Your Way to Enlightenment
July 30th, 2007Enlightenment is a concept that people often hear about. It is often associated with meditation and eastern religions or new age ideals. Enlightenment is not just some crazy concept, though. It is a very serious idea that has changed many people’s lives.
The definition of enlightenment does little to fully explain the concept. The definition states that enlightenment is when a person obtains new knowledge or understanding that gives them clarity. Enlightenment on a larger scale means a person has reached a point of higher consciousness where they can feel and experience a sense of being one with a higher power and their own spiritual being.
The idea of enlightenment is often brought together with meditation. Many believe that the only way to reach enlightenment is through strict meditation which allows the mind to transcend the physical body and exist on the spiritual plane.
However, some people believe enlightenment can come from a variety of sources. Some believe enlightenment can come through doing something or completing a task. For example, a person may claim that when they reached the peak of a mountain they experienced enlightenment.
Enlightenment is a very personal thing. It is not something that can be written down and explained in very matter of fact terms. Enlightenment is something individuals can only experience for themselves. They cannot buy it or learn it.
To reach enlightenment requires a person to find their own path. They should find whatever it is in their life that allows them to reach that place of pure bliss and knowledge.
In some religions enlightenment is seen as the realization of the higher power. It is the greatest connection between god and the human soul. Enlightenment is often something that is thought to be preserved only for those who spend their lives dedicated to connecting with the higher source, like monks.
Enlightenment, though, cannot be pushed into a tidy package. Many people have claimed to reach enlightenment and find nothing spiritual or religious about it. The way each person views enlightenment is totally up to them and is something that only they can describe and explain.
Someone wanting to reach enlightenment has to look within. They first need to decide what enlightenment means to them. They need to decide if it is a physical, emotional, mental or spiritual concept. Then they have to decide what they can do to reach that feeling.
The path to enlightenment is your own. You design it and you conquer it. Nobody can help you or guide you. Enlightenment is a personal experience and a path you are going to have to travel alone.
