Edgar Cayce: The Man With Vision
July 9th, 2007Edgar Cayce was by most aspects, an ordinary man. However, there was one thing about him that was extraordinary. He could put himself into a state of relaxation that allowed him to contact a higher plane. When in this state, he was able to offer advice and give readings that were helpful to people. A lot of the information he provided during those readings are things that are still used today because they work.
Edgar Cayce’s trance like state was self initiated. He would lie down on his couch, fold his hands over his stomach and then slip into the trance. He would then answer any question posed to him.
One thing about Edgar Cayce that really makes him stand out is that the work he did has been documented and in many cases proven. His work has been studied various times by a number of different people and the conclusion that this man was truly gifted, is drawn each time.
He was ahead of his time with advice about health issues. He also foretold events that would happen, such as the fall of communism.
The information Edgar Cayce received was said to come from two sources. He said he received information from the subconscious mind of the person for whom he was reading and from a universal higher source.
Edgar Cayce’s psychic abilities began as a child when it was discovered he could lay his head on a book and upon waking know everything that book said. His gift, though, faded and as he reached adulthood it was not important to him.
His trance psychic abilities were discovered through a course of events. Edgar had developed a chronic case of laryngitis. A visiting hypnotist tried to use hypnosis to help him regain his voice, but it didn’t work.
Another hypnotist heard about this and asked to give it one more try. He put Edgar in a trance and then asked him how to fix the problem. Edgar told him how to help fix his voice. To everyone’s surprise it worked. That is believed to be the first reading Edgar Cayce gave while in a trance state.
Soon he was giving readings on all types of medical issues. However, his readings were only secondary in his life to his photography business, which was his real passion, and his family.
Edgar Cayce only really began to get serious about his readings when his young son became ill and died. Edgar did a reading but it was too late to save the boy. Then his wife took ill and it was his reading that saved her life. From that point on Edgar began to take his readings seriously.
