Awakening and Living Fully You
November 6th, 2008Awakening - a Matter of Choice
We are at a time of a great awakening. Many people are now ready to step up to the fullness of who they are. For some it’s because they are tired of hiding or playing small. For others it’s like a calling, something they feel compelled to do. Part of this awakening process is choosing whether to continue to be driven by our conditioning or to live out loud.
Once the choice is made, the first part of the process is identifying and releasing thoughts, perceptions, habits and behaviors that are no longer serving us. The second part of the process is identifying our purpose, and how we choose to uniquely express that purpose.
Releasing the Old
Let’s take a look at some of the most common conditioning (externally-driven beliefs) that I see many of my clients choosing to release at this time:
- Scarcity: There’s not enough (money, clients, etc.) to go around. This is sometimes inherited from family members who lived through leaner times.
- Concepts around work: ‘It’s work - it’s not supposed to be fun.’ or ‘You have to work hard just to get by.’
- Around being a woman: “Women need a good man to take care of them.” or “Being an intelligent and independent woman makes it harder to find a man.”
- Religious beliefs: Especially those perceptions around guilt, rules of “appropriate” conduct including around sexuality, and whether we can have a direct connection to the divine.
It’s interesting that we sometimes would rather stick with our old habits because they’re familiar and comfortable, rather than face change - the unknown.
When we do things for other people’s reasons (and not ours) it creates compromise, which over time produces stress, which can eventually show up in our physical body as symptoms such as discomfort or aches and pains and, if not addressed, eventually as illness or disease.
Let’s take this opportunity to observe if our beliefs are still serving us, or if we are ready to release them and consciously choose new, healthier perspectives that are more in alignment with who and where we are today. Usually the beliefs we are now ready to release served us at some point in our lives, were acquired as a coping mechanism, or developed from conditioning, then became somewhat comfortable habits.
What can you do?
Here are three simple and practical intuitive techniques:
Stay grounded and be in the present moment. If our thoughts and therefore our energy is scattered, it’s more of a challenge to have clarity about what we no longer want and what we now desire.
The three step process of Observe, Release and Choose:
- Observe the impact of external influences - our conditioning
- Release other people’s thoughts, opinions, and judgments
- Choose what you desire for yourself - for your reasons
For simple instructions on the above process, see the feature article in my May newsletter in the eNewsletter archives.
Focus your positive intention (and attention) on what you desire to create, then amplify your ability to manifest it by sensing how good it feels in your body and the positive emotions you experience when you visualize yourself already having your creation.
Here’s an example of how I incorporated the above concepts in the Release Holiday Stress class I taught recently. Try it out - you might find more joy this holiday season too!
- Observe how much of the stress around the holidays is based on the expectations of others and release it
- Create a clear picture of how you would like your holidays to be. Include things such as your decorations, who you desire to spend your time with, and what gift giving means to you.
- Set your intention - powered by how it feels in your body and the positive emotions you have when you visualize your perfect holiday.
Self-remembering
It doesn’t take a lot of unconscious beliefs to slow us down. By recognizing those beliefs and releasing them, it opens us up to be able to remember who we are - our purpose, desires, and goals. I’ve seen many people awakening, releasing, and self-remembering lately. One of them described it as feeling like they were waking up from being asleep. Many have been inspired with new confidence in their strengths and talents, which renewed their purpose, direction and enthusiasm in life.
Here’s to remembering and living the fullness of who you are!
Remember your purpose
Claim your strengths and talents
and
Embrace and express your uniqueness!
Happy intuiting!
